Maryland Will Book Volume 30, 1750-1760, page 483: WILL OF THOMAS FELPS In the name of God Amen. The second day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & fifty-eight. Thomas Feips of Baltimore County, Planter, being very ill but in perfect mind & memory, thanks be to God for it, therefor ___________ my ___________ mind the mortality of my Body & knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, make & ordain in this my last Will & Testament that is to _____ of _____ pal_____ & first of all, I give and recommend my Soul into the Hands of God that gave it of my Body. I recommend it to the ___________ to be buried in a Christian Like & decent manner at the discretion of my ___________, nothing doubting but at that general Resurection, I shall make the same again by the mighty Power of God & as ___________ such wordly estate wherewith I hath pleased God to be ___________ in this life, I give, devise & dispose of the same in the following manner & form_________. It is my will I do order that in the first place all my just debts & funeral charges to be paid & Satisfied. First and foremost I give, bequeath unto Roseannah, my Dearly beloved wife, all my ___________ with my Household Goods & moveables to her during her natural Life whom I so devise, constitute, make & ordain my only & sole Executrix of this my Last Will & Testament all & Singular to her. Secondly, I give & bequeath unto Aventon Felps, my beloved Son, after my Wife’s Decease, the Plantation where I now live on & all the moveables which may be found and Thirdly, I will and bequeath unto David Machswaine the Plantation where he now lives on, it being called Arabia Petria which I bought of Isaac Webster, to him & his heirs forever and fourthly, it is my desire that my negro man named Quibitt shall be free from Servitude after my wife’s Demise & fifthly, I bequeath unto Hannah Mackswaine one mare and colt of one year old and Sixthly, I leave Edward Morgan as Trustee after my wife’s decease to take in Position every Thing which may be found which will belong unto my son, Aventon Felps, that to take care of it till he can acquaint him of the same willed & bequeathed satisfied and confirmed this & no other to be my Last Will & Testament.
