* The McShanes of Pearse Street, Dublin and Newry Co. Down*

Updated July 31, 2003

Currently underway with the McShane family search. My grandfather Daniel Mc Shane worked in the Queens Theatre at the turn of the century, as did my father in the 60's. We were in Pearse St ( Bruswick Street before the war) from this time, having lived previously in Cabra.

We originated from Newry, Co. Down in a place called Lower Fathom, however I have not visited there yet so it's not really much to tell you all but we have an interesting research angle in that my Grandfathers sister 'Kitty Mc Shane' was married to and performed with Arthur Lucan (Alias 'Old Mother Riley' for those of you that remember the old British films of the 40's and 50's).

Otherwise, it's early stages. I'll update as I go along. Any McShanes doing research shouls start at the McShane Clan website which is http://clanmcshane.hypermart.net/main.html. Good place to read up and join the newsletter.
