Welcome! We are researching the family names of McWh*rter, Shumate, Cook, Brown, Gill, Huntoon, Eastman, Longfellow, McCain, McMurray and Dearborn.
We began tracing our direct ancestors and ended up with many other lines. Scott's paternal family lines are McWherter, Hester, Wells, and Conner. We have traced this family to Tennessee. However, we have many other McWh*rter lines as well.
His maternal family line is Prince. They were traced back to England on many sides.

My paternal lines are Shumate, Pennebaker, Dial, Coleman, Holmesly, Huffaker, and DeMarques. My maternal lines are McCain, Cook, McMurray, Brown, Longfellow, Gill, Huntoon, Eastman, and Dearborn. There are other surnames included as well, such as Hall, Dummer, Sewall, Clements, Morrill, Scott, Kimball, Severance, Abba (Abbott), Walker, Walford and Brookin. The Brown family has been traced back to John Brown of Hampton, New Hampshire. The Shumate family has been traced back to Jean de la Chaumette, the original immigrant in Fauquier Co, Virginia.
