This photo , taken in 2005 by Kath Lightbrown , shows Smethurst as it is today. The property has been split into three seperated dwellings at some time during the last century, and the center ( originaly 16th century ) section faced with stone. One wing has been demolished and rebuilt during the 20th century.The Meadowcroft family were recorded as living here in 1581. John Taylor made alterations in the 1750's.
