1. Nicholas¹ Philippi was born 1804 in Hesse Kassel, Germany, and died July 10, 1894 in Claridon, Marion, OH. He married (1) Mrs. Nicholas Philippi Bef. 1832 in prob Germany. He married (2) Henrietta Burgert 1849 in Dover, Tuscarawas, OH.

Notes for Henrietta Burgert:
The death certificate and obituary for son John PHILIPPI gives the name of mother only as Henrietta. It appears that Nicholas came to USA and remarried. This marriage took place Aug 1849 in Dover, Tuscarawas, OH. It is unknown at this time if Henrietta met Nicholas in Ohio after his immigration, or if they knew one another in Germany.

The four children of Henrietta and Nicholas PHILIPPI were all born in , Marion, OH. These four children were identified as sisters and brothers in the will of Charles PHILIPPI (Charles was first born son of Nicholas from the first marriage, and he lived in Montezuma, Poweshiek, IA). Due to Charle's spelling error of the married name of Catherine, Wilhelmina "Minnie" mailed a sworn affidavit that she was a half sister of Charles and that Catherine was also a half sister of Charles and that Catherine's name was Fetter, not Vetter as Charles had written.

Philip Philippi, born May 20, 1840 in Germany; died November 20, 1927 in America City, KS.

Margaret Philippi, born 1844 in Germany. She married Samuel J. Jack June 11, 1864.

Catherine² Philippi, born October 03, 1850 in Richland, Marion, OH; died February 15, 1933 in Caldonia, OH.
