16. DAVID W.8 MEADOWS (JOEL THOMAS7, JOEL6, JOSHUA JOEL5, JOHN4, THOMAS3, THOMAS2, AMBROSE1 MEADES) was born August 27, 1801 in Bristol, TN, and died 1852 in Hancock, KY. He married AILSEY PHOEBE WHEELER December 10, 1822.

All of Edward's family is listed in the Meadows Bible which was given to me by Lucy Evans of Charlotte County. (Copied) Dates are based on Bible.

This was the "Uncle Ed" that Joseph Meadows always talked about coming to Pamplin to visit. He is actually the cousin of Joseph Lyle Meadows and not his uncle. He would leave his home in Charlotte County and stay in Pamplin for a few weeks and then disappear. No one really knew who he was or where he came from until we began doing research.

Notes for FRANCIS I. JOHNSON:
Francis was the first wife of Matthew Lyle Meadows. She became very sick and her sister, Rosa Johnson, moved in to help take care of her. Supposedly, Matthew and Rosa were VERY good friends. When Francis died, Rosa married Matthew.

Notes for ROSA MIFFELTON JOHNSON:
Rosa's middle name may have been Mifleton according to my mother or Mifflin according to Mary Meadows Sizemore.

William Henry Meadows lived at the old Woodall Place, where Bennett was born.
He later moved to the Hunter Davis' place where Mary was born. He moved again
to Church Road, VA (near Petersburg), where Joseph was born. In 1913 he
moved back to the new home on route 628 in Piney Ridge, VA where we now live.

  Notes for HATTIE (NONE) BALDWIN:
Hattie Baldwin lived on the Woodall place on Route 656 in Prince Edward Co.,
VA. William Bennett was born at the Woodall Place. Mary was born at the
Hunter Davis' place in Pamplin. Joseph was born in Church Road, VA. They
moved back to the present homeplace on route 628 in 1913. "Sweetma" did not
liked to be called "Grandma" by the grandkids. She had a stroke and later
fell over a chair knob and ruptured the lining of her stomach. She bled to
death internally in 1940.
