The Mebane family in North Carolina descended from William Maben (various spellings) who immigrated to Pennsylvania from Northern Ireland in the late 1600's. He was one of many "Scotch-Irish" individuals who had been driven from Scotland by the English and later were compelled to immigrate to North America, principally Pennsylvania. |
