I am researching Meeks families who lived in New York State during the late 1700's and early 1800's. Richard Meeks served in the Revolutionary War. He and his wife Jamima Nelson were said to have been born and died in Albany County, New York. The only known sons were Joel, born in 1796 and Edward born in 1799. Edward married Harriett Cook approx. 1825, later settling in the town of Henderson, Jefferson County, New York, in 1835.Edward and Harriett had 9 children, born in New York; Dennison, Martha, Joel, Champion, Amelia and Nelson. Born in Ontario, Canada; Moses, Hannah, and Lewis. After Harriett's death Edward married Sarah Bowen/Anderson and had one son Edward Jr. born in 1851. Edward Sr. died in Canada in 1877. In the early 1900's some Meeks families moved west from Ontario. They settled in Saskatchewan, Alberta, Cranbrook, Terrace, and Prince George, British Columbia. I am interested in exchanging information on the above families and am also researching: Bornowsky/Markus-immigrated from Prussia to Saskatchewan in 1906 Rosenblaths/John-immigrated from Prussia to Ontario in 1845 Tapping/Ontario,Canada Gamache/families living in South Range, Houghton County, Michigan during the early 1900's.
