* The Abraham Elston and Norman D. Meeker Descendants*

Updated April 26, 2002

This site contains information about the ELSTON, MEEKER, BOXLER, HIGH, ELLIOTT, VOSS, JOHNSON, STACKHOUSE, and MILLER families.

Abraham and Mary E. (Johnson) Elston left Illinois in 1873 with their three children and homesteaded in Harlan County, Nebraska. Abraham was the descendent of a long line of Elstons who first arrived with the Massachusettes Bay Colony. His son, William Allen Elston and his wife, Caroline May Elliott of Iowa produced six children, many grand and great grandchildren who left Nebraska and moved further west.

William Parker Elliott was born in 1832 in Ohio of parents who came from Ireland and England. By 1855 he was buying up land in Millersburg, Iowa, and in 1860 he married Elmyra C. Huffman. They had at least five children and then moved iin 1878 to Franklin Co., Nebraska. Their daughter Caroline became Mrs. W.A. Elston. We need to find W.P. Elliott's parents.

Norman D. Meeker reported in the 1880 census that he was born in Vermont of parents who were both born in New Jersey. That information probably connects him to the very large family of Meekers who were living in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Norman married Vashti and moved to northern New York. There, at least three of their children were born: Henry M., Clarissa, and Ezra Gilman Meeker(1848.) Then they moved again. Joel was born in 1856 in Illinois. And moved again to Chariton Co., Missouri. Ezra Gilman and Agnes Robley of Chariton County, Missouri gave birth to John Ezra Meeker (1889-about 1914) of Missouri, who begat John E. Meeker of Bartlesville OK. We are searching for ancestors of Norman D. Meeker. The Meekers were great begatters but lousy historians.

Fred and Minnie Vollert Voss (1856-1929)left Germany and settled in Franklin County, Nebraska. They left briefly for Lang, Saskatchewan, Canada but returned to Arapahoe, Nebraska. Their many descendents live all over western North America. Their history is hidden away in pieces probably entrusted to the daughters.

Conrad and Clara Boxler produced 13 children who produced many more. Their line is documented back to before 1764 in Germany and the Russia Volga river Germans.
