| "OUR ELDEST FAMILY ORIGIN" Abner Meeks Sr., born September 8, 1879 to Eddie Meeks and Betty Hampton Meeks. They made their home in Canton, Mississippi. At an early age, Papa Abner" and "Mama Dora" (as they were called by all generations) were united in Holy Wedlock. They moved to Holmes County, Lexington, Mississippi. Madora Haymore was born March 10, 1892. She was the daughter of Rev. Tee Haymore ( A Methodist Minister) and Cordelia Henderson. Papa and Mama Dora became parents of 14 beautiful children. Two deceased as infants. Although they had to raise 12 of their own, they opened their home to raise their grandson, Willie (Joe) Meeks. My Specific Family Origin: Robert Lee Meekie Jr. (1962), is the son of Frances Lorraine Walker (b.1944) and Robert Lee Meekie Sr. (b.1941). The grandson of Curtis Walker (1910) and Mary Louise Hall (b 1926)“mother’s side”, and the grandson of Roy Meekie Sr. (b 1911), and Corima (Cora/Butchum) Meeks (b 1911) “father’s side”. In addition, the great-grandson of Madora Haymore (1892) and Abner Meeks Sr. (1879), and the great-great grandson of Betty Hampton and Eddie Meeks--is attempting to build a family tree for our family. He will need quite a bit of information from everyone in the family regarding their family. We cannot build a tree unless everyone participates.
