I suspect in the eastern part of Kentucky, as many Meek(s) were in that area in the early 1800s. He married an Augusta Ann McClure, born in 1845. They had 8 childeren, per my records. Harry, John Frederick, May (married Thomas Richmond), William E. (married Alice Hall), August, Mary E. (married George Thomas Rickman), and finally Thomas Barney Meek Jr. (born in Cheyene Wyoming, died in Ukiah California, my birth place). Thomas, my Great Grandfather died in 1962. He married Margaret Isabella Cavers, born 1889 in San Fransisco, California, died 1977 in Ukiah California.

2006: I have a John Meek who died in 1890 in Cheyenne, Larimie Co., WY, and was born about 1820 in KY. He married an Elixabeth Barney that may have been from Greenup Co., KY, yet other census records indicate she was born in Massachusetts. Elizabeth died in Priest River, Bonner Co., Idaho Dec 25, 1907 and was born possibly Oct 31, 1822. I believe my John Meek may have been a son of James Meek and Mary Greenslate if I have Elizabeth from Greenup County KY and not Massachucests. I am trying to tie down what Elizabeth John married and where John was actually born.
