I have been researching for some time the history of the Neidig, Huffman, and Testerman families, ancestors on my mother's side. Help has been received from many sources.
We are descended from Adam Neidig, originally from Switzerland, who arrived in Philadelphia, along with his brothers Leonhart and Daniel, in 1754.
Adam's great granddaughter, Susan Neidig, married Gabriel Huffman. He was a descendant of a George Huffman,who was born in Augusta County, Virginia in about 1745. There are many Huffmans/Hoffmans, and although it is certain that they came originally from Germany, no one has yet been able to place definitely the ancestor of George Huffman, our ancestor. Some believe that he was part of those of Green and Washington Counties, PA. Others believe he came from families in Maryland, but to date there is nothing to document his origins.
My grandmother was Eda Huffman (daughter of Gabriel), who married Francis Marion Testerman. He was the great-grandson of Thomas Stephan Testerman who arrived in America in about 1773 and fought in the Revolutionay War, then homesteaded in Ashe Co., North Carolina. No one has been successful in finding where he came from, but family information says it was from Germany.
