Notes for John Giddeon Bell: It appears that Thomas and Abigail Bell never had any children of their own, however, they adopted a son, John G. Bell, who became the proprietor of several stores in Bellville, including a hotel. The following is from a newspaper clipping, presumably a Bellville paper of that time which speaks of the death of John Bell's wife, Penelope, and which may possibly give some insight into the area in Florida from which the Bell brothers (in 1822) and the Stephensons (in 1826) came:
