This page is a work in process. Most of the research for this family tree was done by Bob McAllister of Mount Pleasant North Carolina who lives on land once owned by Peter Meisenheimer the Revolutionary War Soldier and son of immigrant Johann Jacob Meisenheimer. Substantial research was contributed by Reid Misenheimer of Atlanta Georga. Other contributors include Patricia B. Beck of Salisbury N.C., Richard and Betty Jo Misenheimer of Alice Texas, and John Misenheimer, president of the Cabarrus and Mecklenburg County Genealogical Societies in North Carolina.
Before constructing this page we believed that all the Meisenheimers, Misenheimers, Misenhimers, and Micenhimers in the U.S. could be traced back to Johann Jacob and Anna Margaretha Meisenheimer. Since putting this page up I have been contacted by descendants of another Meisenheimer Immigrant:

Martin MEISENHEIMER b: 1788 in Heppenheim, Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany d:1871 in Brown Co., KS

Another Meisenheimer immigrant (Adam Meisenheimer) emmigrated from Denmark and settled east of Georgian Bay in Canada, while at least one of his brothers moved to Venezuela where there is now a Meisenheimer clan as well.

There is also an African-American Branch of the Meisenheimer Family. We suspect this to be the result of slavery in Cabarrus Co. North Carolina. At least the Census of 1860 for Cabarrus County shows that some people who bore this family name also owned slaves. The possibility of a blood relationship, however, is not out of the question. If anybody has information on the family history of the African-American Meisenhimers please contact me and we'll publish your information here as well.

There are still Meisenheimers living in Germany which we have not yet been able to connect with.

Any Information or photographs which you would like to contribute would be greatly appreciated.

The entire Meisenheimer database (12 MB!!) in .FTW format can be downloaded via anonymous FTP from:

You can also download it simply by clicking on the link on the right side of this page that says "The Meisenheimer Database".
