Notes for JULIEN BONHOMME DIT BEAUPRE:
Their marriage record is
found in Mariages du Comte de Napierville, by Benoit Pontbriand. His occupation
at the time of his marriage was given as "charretier" (ploughman or
labourer). Julien and Marie, with their children, were in Father Chiniquy's
original party of settlers to St. Anne, Illinois. Julien purchased 40 acres, at
$7 an acre, from the railroad in Section 34, T30N R12W, located one mile
northeast of St. Anne. The section is bisected by Chicago & Eastern
Illinois R.R. According to Burial
Record Book, St. Anne Catholic Church, Julien and Marie are buried in the
original Catholic cemetery at St. Anne. Their names do not appear in the
cemetery records; perhaps their graves were not moved from the original
cemetery next to the church. It was son Alfred who bought St. Anne Brick &
Tile Co. about 1900 and operated the plant for three years. He sold a half
interest to F. H. Meier and shortly after, sold the other half to Adlore

DIT7, EUSTACHE6, CHARLES BONHOMME DIT5, CHARLES-IGNACE BONHOMME

Canada, and died 12 March 1924 in Kankakee, Kankakee County, Illinois.
Notes for ISAAC/ EZRA BEAUPRE:
Isaac's birth/baptism is
recorded at Paroisse St-Cyprien, Napierville, Province Quebec, Canada on 31 May
1842. He served in the Civil War with Company K, 113th Illinois Infantry; he
enlisted 9 August 1862 and was mustered out on 20 June 1865. He is on the rolls
as "Ezra Bopra." His outfit reported to General Sherman 6 November
1862 at Memphis. The 113th accompanied General Sherman against Vicksburg and
took part in the battle of Chickasaw Bayou. His obituary is carried in Kankakee
Daily Republican, Kankakee, Illinois, issue of Thursday, 6 September 1917 under
Momence Local News, "Ezra Boupre died suddenly Tuesday morning at the home
of his son-in-law, Mr. Rhemer, in this city. Mr. Boupre leaves a wife and a
large family to mourn his departure. Eighteen children were born to them and 96
grandchildren and great-grandchildren and their family reunions have long been
great events in our city. Mr. Boupre was a member of the 113th regiment an had
various war experiences which he often related to his friends. He leaves a host
of friends. Funeral was held Thursday morning at St. Patrick's
church." Death of Rose is recorded
in Kankakee Daily Republican, Kankakee, Illinois, issue of Wednesday, 12 March
1924, "MRS. ROSE BEAUPRE JOINS THE MAJORITY - DIES AT HOME OF HER DAUGHTER
MRS. AUGUST REHMER IN SO. ROSEWOOD AVE.
Mrs. Rose Delima Beaupre died early this morning at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. August Rehmer, 283 South Rosewood avenue and her funeral
services will be held at St. Rose church at 9 o'clock Friday morning, with
burial in the Catholic cemetery at Momence. Mrs. Beaupre was born in
Pottawattomie, Canada, April 11, 1850. She lived in St. Anne for several years
and later in Momence. After the death of her husband eight years ago, she came
to Kankakee to live with her daughter. Mrs. Beaupre is survived by 10 children,
10 others having preceeded her in death. The living are: Joseph, Mrs. Thyfault,
Archille, Delphis, Frs. H. Leary, Mrs. A. Soicie, Mrs. F. E. Booth, Philip,
Mrs. F. Delogchamp, and Mrs. Rehmer. There are also 70 grandchildren and six
greatgrandchildren." (Note by Norma Meier: Rose Delima's parents were
married at Chambly, near Montreal Canada. By 1860 they were living in St. Anne
Township, Kankakee County, Illinois. I cannot locate a Pottawatomie, Canada.
Perhaps this name of Rose Delima's birthplace
was a misconception by one of Rose Delima's children. The Isaac Beaupre
family lived in Kansas from the 1870s through 1890s. Did they stop in
Pottawatomie County, Kansas on their way to Cloud County? And did this name
somehow become mixed up in family legends.)
