Notes for Sophia Mae Melton:
May 10, 2003 received the following from Carol Ann, grandaughter of Sophia;
I know MoMo was a rather stoic person at times, but Mom and I went and stayed with her often when I was growing up.She listened to her preacher's everymorning but she could "cut a rug" at times and loosen up, laugh and even dance around>We all played Wahoo and Chinese Checkers.She was very involved in the Salvation Army and we would catch a s]bus and go to the headquarters and help out.We went to visit some of her shut-in friends as well and played games.At Christmas, she always got a big kick out of stuffing herself with a pillow and wearing a Santa suit and passing out the gifts.I believe I have some home video transferred from 8mm film of her doing this.If memory serves me right, she always thought Ann was stuck-up and thought she was better than everybody else.I don't remember her talking about Emma.Did she also have a brother Jess?Seems she would often speak fondly of him.I relly don't know any of the Melton's except for MoMo and your family.
