Near as I can tell, most of us were spawned somewhere in the midwest, Iowa, Illinois and Indiana. My side of the family came to the USA from England quite early on.My wife's family, the Thompsons were of Danish stock.I am new at this, my father always told me our family tree was the one we were hung on for stealing horses. I have heard that the Mendenhall name has gone through many spelling changes, starting in early 1500-1600AD England.Although I cannot prove it, an Aunt mentioned to me that we can claim early Mayflower type passage. This is as far as I know my own lineage: My Father was Harry F. Mendenhall 09/28/1912-04/13/1989, Grandfather was George W. Mendenhall 09/08/1890-10/22/1965, Grandmother was Jessie Mae Widows 04/25/1892-around 1982, My Mother was Ruth E. Unmack 08/06/1914-11/13/1990. Grandmother was Otto Maud Robertson Most of my close relatives were from southwest Iowa (Logan, Missouri Valley, Magnolia.Grandma Mendenhall was fron northwest Missouri (Bethany). Lola's family is pure European Danish on her Father's side. Her grandparents came over from Denmark and settled in Luzerne Iowa. Her Mother's maiden name was Hoppe from western Canada. We're working on that one also.
