| I was born in New York City. My parents were born in Puerto Rico. My dad Pedro Mercado Mas was born in Mayaguez around 1906 and my mother, Genoveva Pagan Acevedo was born in rural Mayaguez around 1904.They came to New York City around 19245. They met in NYC and married around 1931. I have traced my fathers grandfather back to Carcaixent in Valencia Spain where he was born in 1845. His name was Joaquin Mas Prades.He married Theresa Polanco Mas in Las Marias,PR.and they had four children. The sur-names that I am researching include Pagan, Rivera, Acevedo, Gaud, Luciano, Mas, Polanco, Sepulveda, and Cancel in Las Marias, Mayaguez, and San German area. I have over 1000 names and as I find out more about them they become more real and a living world history for the restof the family |
