      92. Timothy Ricketson, Jr., born Abt. 1745 in Dutchess Co., New ork; died Bef. April 1805 in Bardstown, KY. He was the son of 184. Timothy Ricketson, Sr. and 185. Bathsheba Wilbur. He married 93. Prudence Fisher Bet. 1770 - 1785.

      93. Prudence Fisher, born Abt. 1750.

Notes for Timothy Ricketson, Jr.:
On Feb. 15, 1785, Timothy Ricketson, Jr., was granted 287 1/2 acres of land in Washington County on Bounty and in Feb. 1785, he was granted 300 acres in Richmond County; on Feb. 21, 1785 he was granted 50 acres more and again on August 02, 1786 he was granted an additional 200 acres, all in Richmond County. We believe that some of this land may have been granted to Timothy Ricketson, Sr. and some to Timothy Ricketson, Jr., possibly as reward for their services in the Revolutionary War. Further research is necessary to clarify this granting of land, whether it be to Timothy Sr., or Timothy Jr.

The Daughters of the American Revolution Patriots Index records Timothy Ricketson, born circa 1745 and died prior to 1801, married Mary Wilkins, Pvt. GA.. Timothy was paid a soldiers pension.

The mother of Timothy's children, Joseph & Abraham Ricketson, is unknown. The information from the DAR indicates that Timothy was at one time married to Prudence Unknown who may have been their mother. The mother of the younger children is Mary Wilkins. All evidence indicates that the two oldest children, Abraham & Joseph, remained in Georgia after Timothy married Mary Wilkins and moved to Bardstown, Kentucky some time prior to 1792, where they lived until Timothy Jr., death about 1805.

In the research of Miriam Ricketson, who married Abijah Parker, and whom settled in the Beeisle & Wilmot District of Nova Scotia, the History of Annapolis County affirms that Miriam was the widow of Timothy Ricketson Jr.. Dr. Shadrack Ricketson, in his genealogy, proved that this was wrong and that Miriam was the sister of Timothy Ricketson Jr.. It is unknown whether Abraham & Joseph were raised by their mother. According to Grace Edes, Abraham was raised in Wilkins County, Ga., by a man name Mollums. According to Huxford's Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia, Joseph Ricketson was born in Burke County, Ga., in 1784, Huxford's does not record Abraham Ricketson.

The earliest documental records in Bardstown, KY., were Tax Assessments in 1792. Tax records & other records indicate that Timothy continued to live there until he died before April 1805. He left no will.
An appraiser was appointed to appraise his estate in April 1805 and the court made distribution to the widow, Mary Wilkins Ricketson and Catherine [Caty] Ricketson. Some documents records Catherine's name as Caty Wilkins. It is unknown if Catherine was the daughter of Timothy. or if she was born before Timothy Jr., and Mary Wilkins were married.

Timothy arrived in Bardstown, KY., just as the area was being settled. The location of his grave is unknown but a likely location is the "Old Settlers Cemetery" just about two blocks from the courthouse square in the center of town. Most grave markers have disappeared and the ones that remain are illegible. Information from one researcher indicates that Timothy Ricketson Jr., at one time owned property in Richmond County, Ga., as follows: Richmond County, Georgia Deed Bond "A-2" page 231, Timothy Ricketson, Jr., -- page 125 -- Dec. 04, 1785. To Ignatius Few 30 acres on Little River on road leading from Augusta to Brownsburg bounded by lands of Humphrey Well & Timothy Ricketson Sr., orig. granted to Timothy Ricketson, Jr., 02 Feb. 1785. Test: Wm. Candler, Burwell Brown.

Children of Timothy Ricketson and Prudence Fisher are:
  i.   Abraham Ricketson, born February 18, 1781 in Wilkes Co., GA; died Aft. 1854; married Susannah Ogletree February 04, 1810 in Wilkes Co., GA; born Bet. 1780 - 1795; died Aft. 1854 in Wilkes Co., GA.
46 ii.   Joseph Ricketson, Sr., born 1784 in Burke Co., GA; died October 1820 in Montgomery Co., GA; married Serena Foy July 17, 1806 in Tattnall Co., GA.
