Mark Lott was born in St. George's Parish about 1765, a son of John Lott, Revolutionary Soldier. He grew up on Effingham County and in Barnwell District, South Carolina. Record is found where Mark Lott granted 100 acres in Effingham County on December 06, 1790, this land was sold by him to James Oglesby, November 27, 1802 for $150.00. The deed to Oglesby is signed by Mark Lott and his wife, Delilah [Jones]. It is recorded in Bullock County Deed Book A, page 88, the property had been cut off into Bullock out of Effingham and identifies the land as the same that had been granted to him in 1790. The family lived in that part of Bullock County which was cut off into Emanuel in 1812, and moved in 1806 to Montgomery County. The elder Lott had already moved to Montgomery which was cut off into Tattnall County in the formation of that county in 1805. Mark Lott died in Montgomery County about 1812, and his widow continued to live there until about 1822, when she and her children moved across the Omulgee River into Appling County and settled where "Lone Hill Methodist Church" now is in Coffee County, Georgia.

Notes for Gray Stock Roberts, Sr.:
[1] Gray Stock Roberts appears on the 1820 Montgomery County Ga., Census as well as the 1824 Tax List. There is a William Roberts appearing on the same census and tax list as Gray Stock, which could most likely be his father..
[2] Gray Stock born 1793 is often confused with his uncle Graystock Roberts, Sr., born 1769. The 1820 Census proves that there were indeed two Gray Stock [Graystock] in Georgia. Graystock Sr., appears on the 1820 Burke Co., Ga., Census with a son, Graystock, Jr.. Gray Stock appear on the 1820 Montgomery County Census as Greystock. The one in Burke County cannot be Gray Stock Roberts who married Sarah Lott due to the fact the one in Burke County has an adult son named Graystock, Jr.. Gray Stock's son, Gray Stock, Jr., was born in 1832 Ware Co., Ga..
