| MORTON: I have lots of information to share on a Morton family beginning with Morten Mortenson's emigration from Sweden in 1620,his son Morten Mortenson (b.1660), his son John (b.1683), his son John (b.1725) who was a signer on the Declaration of Independence, his son George (b.1745), then William (b.1770), then John D. Morton(b.1815), John L. Morton (b.1853), and Lute Morton (b.1895). The family started out in Pennsylvania, Lived in Virginia, Indiana, Iowa, and finally settled in Missouri. Most of them were millers and John D. built over 70 grist mills in his life time. They had very large families and I have lots of names and dates! |
