The Bedells came from England to Massachusetts in the early 1600's. They then went to Connecticut and in the 1640's, crossed Long Island Sound to Hempstead Plain, now the Town of Hempstead. My branch of the family settled on the South Shore in the area of East Rockaway, Baldwin and Freeport. I am currently searching for ancestors and descendants of Tredwell Bedell, who was born in 1792. He and his wife Ann were the parents of William, Mott and James. William married Susan Danes of the Nelson Danes family of Blue Point. James also married one of the daughters of the Nelson Danes. My branch of the Bedell family seems to be difficult to trace, and I will be very appreciative of any help. |
