Welcome to our web site, although this is based on the Merriman Family, you will find many other Surnames associated to our family.

Our family comes from a long line of Collier's or Coal Miner's which originated back in Gloucestershire, England.

Our New Zealand branch started in 1880 when Tom Merriman and his family emigrated from England on the ship Opawa.

Coal mining has been in our blood for nearly 300 years and spans over 7 generations, something that is still continued today in the form of my brother, Wayne, a District Manager on the West Coast of New Zealand.

I am most interested in hearing from anyone that would like to add information to this site or would like more information on any particular individual.
