My branch of the Sweatman family lives in Dorchester, Berkeley and Charleston Counties of South Carolina. The decendants of Reuben Edward Sweatman, Sr. hold our family reunion every June.
My great grandfather was William Thomas Sweatman (1850-1923). He was married to Susan Tumbleston (1854-1892). When Susan died in 1891 their children were placed in The Charleston Orphanage House except for my grandfather, Reuben Edward, and one of his sisters. My grandfather was adopted by Frank and Mary Grooms. I am looking for information about William Thomas (Tom) Sweatman.
