Descendants of Thomas Gribble
Thomas Gribble was born around 1748 in Pa. but moved to Mecklenburg County, N.C. sometime prior to 1766. It is in that year that he is listed as a "foot soldier" under Captain Adam Alexander Eq. He married in 1768 to Sarah Irwin who was born in 1750 in a part of Anson County, N.C. that later became Mecklenburg County, N.C. Between 1774 and 1775, he served as a juror in Mecklenburg county six times. He is believed to have died about 1813 as he is last found listed on the Mecklenburg tax records of 1812/1813 but so far, no will or inventory of estate has yet been found. Sarah Irwin Gribble's death is also unknown at this time. They had the following children: 1. John Gribble who was born about 1770. He married around 1786 to Margaret Black who was born around 1767. They had eight children - James Gribble, William Black Gribble, Thomas Gribble, John G. Gribble, Jane Gribble, Ezekiel Gribble, Margaret (Peggy) Gribble, and Annie Gribble; |
