Document dated Jan. 13, 1945 says William F. Williams, father of Solomon Williams, was born at Ft. Knox, Knox Co., Indiana (then Indiana Territory) Dec. 27, 1803.His parents Frank & Abigail Williams, who were born (?) in New York State, moved to Kentucky in early days, and later to Indiana Territory, settling in what now is Sullivan County.William F. Williams, Sr. moved from Sullivan County to Greene County in 1824, and in 1838 to Owen County, settling on a 150 acre farm. He served as magistrate of Greene county 16 years, and for many years was a member of the State Militia.He was a Democrat and member of the Masonic Lodge and Protestant Episcopal church.On Dec. 28 1822 he married Mary Padgett. They had 7 children.

Billy was 19 year old and Molly 16 years, seven months and fourteen days at the time of their marriage.
In course of time they moved northward of what is now Greene Country and settled near Marco.Billy learned the carpenter trade and was foremost in all housebuildings in the community.Uncle Andy Humphreys (one time well known in Greene County) told Fletcher B. that Billy Williams built the first house in Linton.By this time children came into the home and learning of cheapaer lands a little farther north on Fish Creek, they decided to go there which he did about 1840.There on what is locally known as the island, he established a new habitation.
Two children died in infancy.
In 1858 he built a new home which stood very near the present building now owned by the grandson, George.
