I am researching the ancestors of Sydney C. Mifflen, born in Catalina, Newfoundland, on July 5, 1891. I have data reaching back in a direct line to Edward Mifflin born in Sutton Veny, Wilshire, England, in 1608. Most of the early birth records show the family as centered around nearby Warminster. My branch of the family came to Newfoundland in the late 1700's, having been engaged in the commercial fishery. Common names in the family are Sampson, Edward, John and Thomas.

Another branch of the family moved to the American Colonbies in the mid to late 1600's, john being the name of the first emigrant. This branch became well known through one of its members, Thomas, who signed the American Constitution and became Governor of Pennsylvania.

I would be happy to exchange information with anyone who is researching this or any associated family.
