  Notes for Mary Ann Shook:
After her husband William died in the Civil War, Mary Ann married her late husbands brother,John Reynolds. She died just two years later, leaving John with 4 children to raise. He apparently did not do a very good job of child rearing. After a lengthy court battle, the children were given to Dykeman Shook Jr. (Mary Ann's brother) to raise. They were mostly raised by their grandparents, Dykeman and Mary.
