Descendants of Alexander Thompson

Generation No. 1

1. ALEXANDER1 THOMPSON was born in Pennsylvania, and died in possibly Illinois. He married ELIZABETH NEAL Abt. 1803 in possibly East Tennessee, Blount County.

Notes for ALEXANDER THOMPSON:
I don't know when Alexander moved from Pennsylvania to Tennessee. He
supposedly married Elizabeth Neal in Tennessee but could not find any
record of it. Listing from LDS family center states they were married about 1803 in Blount County, East Tennessee. Another source said they were married in Pennsylvania and that all their children were born there. LDS history center has all his children born in Blount Co., East Tennessee. One source said they moved back to Pennsylvania from Tennesee. Then to Indiana in 1831. I don't know which source is correct.

His wife died in 1836 (approx.) but I don't know where in Indiana (probably South-eastern Indiana). He came to Illinois to live with his some of his children. I can find no record of when he died or where is was buried.

Alexander's son, John, served in the Black Hawk War. Marker at Duncanville, IL cemetary.

One newspaper clipping states he was married to Rachel Neal Wallace
before his death. (wife of Benjamin Wallace). This cannot be true. I have her estate sale showing her name still as Rachel Wallace.

From Jackson Co., Indiana marriage records the following:
Alexander Thompson married Margaret McGee 4-9-1821
Rachel Thompson married John Pledgley 11-19-1833
(Could these be Alexander's Children?)

From Blount Co., Tenn. marriage records the following:
Polly Ann Thompson married James Montgomery 5-26-1823
Rachel Thompson married Bartley Duncan 9-27-1827
Margaret Thompson married John Campbell 7-26-1831

(all the above could be Alexanders children)

More About ALEXANDER THOMPSON:
Occupation: fuller (person who stretched fabric)
Residence: Pennsylvania, East Tennessee, Indiana, IL

Notes for ELIZABETH NEAL:
One news clipping states that her family was from Ireland, and dropped the O from O'Neal when they came to the United States.

(Possibly some of Elizabeth's family)
From marriage records of Blount Co., East Tennessee:
Polly Neal married George Thompson 11-29-1832
Anna Neal married John W. Snider 11-1-1819
Alex Neal marrried Sarah Hix 12-2-1834

I could find no proof that Elizabeth and Rachel Neal Wallace were related. Most likely they were since they were both from E. Tenn.
