This site mainly traces the histories of eight groups that settled in the Pittsburgh and Cleveland areas: the Miller family, which arrived from Eppenbrunn, Germany, in 1831; the Connolly/Conley family, which came from Dundalk, Ireland, around 1860; the Gaugler family, which came from Nuglar, Switzerland, in 1854; the Saar family, which came from Kastel, Saarland, Germany, in 1861; the Plantner/Prantner family, which came from Dobriv, Bohemia, in the 1880s; the Mieyal/Mijal family, which came from Poland in 1901; the Cinadr family, which came from Krtely, Bohemia; and the Halama family, from Mala Losenice, Bohemia.
