Death of a Pioneer
John Bradford, one of the oldest citizens of Daviess County, died at his home in Sugarland, Thursday in the 87th year of his age. He settled upon a farm in this county in 1815 and lived upon the same farm until his death. The cause of his death was due to concatenation of its incident upon old age. He married soon after he came to the county, a Miss Wilhite, who died about five years ago. He was blessed with 11 children, eight of whom are living. He was a good citizen in every respect, and was loved by all who knew him. It is said that he never had an enemy. He served upon the first grand jury Daviess County ever had and he survived all the other members of the jury. His remains were buried yesterday at Sugarland. "As the sheaf is gathered in its season, the Lord of the harvest brought him to the grave in hoary age." May he rest in peace.
