Obituary of Alice S. Haynes - Whitworth

Mrs. Alice S. Haynes-Whitworth was born Feb. 15, 1857 in Lawrence Co. Tenn. and passed away to be with the Lord at 1:00 p.m. July 11, 1946 having lived to the good old age of 89 years, 4 mo. and 26 days.

She was converted and because an active christian worker at the age of 13 and remained definitely so until feebleness of the physical frame prevented, a few years before the end came.

She met, was wooed and married Mr. T.J. Whitworth on Sept. 21, 1880, at Mt. Zion Church in Lawrence Co. Tenn. To this union was born 8 children 4 boys and 4 girls, four of them 2 boys and 2 girls and the husband having gone on before.

There are two sons, Pastor A.E. (Lonnie) Whitworth of Whitt, Texas, Mr. J.A. Whitworth of Glen Rose, Texas and two daughters, Mrs. A.M. Moore, and Mrs. Mattie McCoy of Glen Rose, 19 grand children, 28 great grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one sister, Mrs. M.A. Haynes-Johnston of Belview, New Mexico, quite a number of nephews and nieces, other relatives and a host of friends to mourn the loss.
