Notes for Bertha B. Briggs: Joseph T. second wife was Bertha and she inherited his estate. One half of which she gave to her nephew and the other one half was split between Earl, Dorothy and our father, Melville.
On Wednesday, January 12, 1949, at Montgomery County General Hospital, Bertha B. MILSTEAD of Fairland, Md., beloved wife of the late Joseph MILSTEAD and mother of Mrs. William REED, Earl E. and Melville B. MILSTEAD, sister of William F. BRIGGS and Mrs. Clara B. MUSGROVE. Remains resting at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase funeral home of Wm. Reuben Pumphrey, Bethesda, Md., until 12:30 p.m. Saturday, January 15, thence to Spencerville Free Methodist Church, Spencerville, Md., where services will be held at 2 p.m. Interment Burtonsville Union Cemetery.
