* Moraca - Hornyak Family of Windber, PA.*

Updated January 4, 2008

My relatives came from the "Old Country" in the early 1900's. They settled in Windber, Pa., a small coal-mining community in Southwestern Pa.

Giussepe MORACA (1889-1968) was born in San Mango D' Aquino, Catanzaro, Italy, son of Tomasso MORACA and Francesca Maria VINCENZO. He came to Windber, Pa. in 1910, where he married Rosina PIACENTE (1896-1983), daughter of Giuseppe PIACENTE and Marianna MONTESONA. (The PIACENTE name was later changed to PATCHEN.)

The MORACA and VINCENZO family came from San Mango D' Aquino, CZ. The PIACENTE and MONTESONA family came from San Vito sullio Ionio, CZ. These towns are in the Calabria Region of Italy.

Descendants of GIUSEPPE MORACA and ROSINA PIACENTE

Adeline Moraca, Frances Marie Moraca, Alfred J. Moraca, Virginia Moraca, Thomas Moraca, Virgil F. Moraca, Angeline Moraca, Rosemarie Moraca, Samuel Moraca, Joseph Moraca, Rufus, William L. Moraca, and Elizabeth L. Moraca.

The HORNYAK and DZUGANSY family came from the Abauj-Torna Region of Hungary--namely Bodva Szilas and Bodva Vendegi. Janos (1892-1976) was the son of Istvan HORNYAK and Maria FAZEKAS. Janos came to the US in 1910, Julianna (1895-1967) came in 1912. They were married in Winder, Pa. in 1912.

Descendants of JANOS (JOHN) HORNYAK & JULIANNA DZUGANSY

Stephen J.Hornyak, Ann Hornyak, Joseph Hornyak, John Hornyak, Irene Hornyak, and Helen Hornyak.

I am also researching the following families who lived in Cambria, Somerset, Indiana, Westmoreland, and Lycoming Counties in Southwestern Pa:

CABLE, CALLIHAN, DICK, HICE, HOCKENSMITH, and STEETLE

I am researching these families, trying to find "lost relatives". If you have any information, or think there may be a link between our families, please contact me.
