The line I am researching is largely based in and around the London area. My line follows a route from Middlesex 1925, Marylebone 1883 then Southwark in 1851 and Limehouse 1837 and finally, so far, to Woodford, Essex 1821. The family group I am currently researching is George Minns and Sophia Hale (Hall). George was babtised in Woodford Essex on 7 February 1821 when the surname may have been written as Minnis. They were at 2 North Street, Limehouse, Stepney in December 1837 when they registered the death of their 7 month old daughter also named Sophia who died of Whooping cough. Known further children from this marriage were Emma, William and Mary Ann. George's occupation is shown as a Gardener. It is thought possible that George's father was Benjamin Minns who was from the Tooting, Surrey who married Mary Charlwood around November 1794 - This is the current investigation. Other names I am researching on my family tree are Bolton, Birbeck, Firman, Fuller, Sheppard, Blackford, Steednam. There are an ever growing group of people researching the Minns surname and many of us try to meet up once or twice a year, the date and venue of the next meeting is to be decided but should be around May anybody interested in the surname is welcome. I have started a egroup for anybody reseraching the surname MINNS at http://www.egroups.com If you would like an invitation to join, or have any problems finding it please e mail me for details. We are considering a Minns e-mail newsletter and will be pleased to hear from any one with an interest in the surname or any ideas for what could be included. Any help will be very welcome and, of course I will be happy to share information. Please note that there appear to be 2 of my Family Tree pages trees here (somehow!) and I dont seem to be able to edit the other. Please be aware that the page where my address appears as 29 Mill Way is now out of date.
