According to Charles White, Nicholas Baylies and his family movedfrom England to Cumberland, Rhode Island, in 1737, and from there moved to Uxbridge in 1738.
The 1790 United States Census for Taunton, Massachusetts, indicates that Nicholas Baylies was living there with a white female and one other free person.Also living in Taunton at the time was Frederick Baylies.In his household there were three white males age 16 and over, two white males under 16 and six white females.Presumably, Nicholas Sr. located in Taunton with his son Frederick.
