Notes for Jerry Gerald Bortka: All four of Jerry's grand parents came to America as young adults. Only Bortkas in America are descendents of his Grandfather Casmir Bortka. Jerry Bortka attended Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, KS, graduating in June 1964. He received a full football scholarship at Kansas State University. Transferred to Kansas State Teacher's College, Emporia, Kansas also on a full football scholarship graduating in 1969. While in High School he was High School State Diving Champion. Varsity Letterman in Football, Swimming/diving and Track. He was invited to try out for the Kansas City Chiefs Football Team but was drafted into the Service to go to the Vietnam War. He holds a Masters in Education with Learning Disabilities, Indiana University. Post Graduate work, Indiana University Education Emotionally Handicap degree. He retired, from Language Arts And Special Education and Varsity High School Coach.[Miner417.FTW]
