My mother's family has a long tradition in the South, including the states of Florida, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Kentucky. I began the search of my roots on August 29, 1986 before the age of personal computers, dedicating Friday morning each week to comb the Genealogy stacks at the Orlando, FL Public Library. The Linebaugh branch became my first interest because I thought the uniqueness would aid in my search. In reality, it was the most difficult as I hit a wall only 4 generations above my own. I made a journey to Eufala, AL and found the gravesite of H.M. Hunter and copious information about the Hunters and Williams' of the 1800's. |
