| My ancestors came to America as early as 1634 first to Massachusetts then to New London Connecticut(Hugh Calkins) and in the early 1700's my Huguenot ancestors (Perigo/Pedigo) came to Maryland. My King ancestry (English origin) begins mysteriously in Habersham County, Georgia. I am in constant search of my 4th gr-grandfather Lambert/Lembird/Lamburt King b. 1775 who shows up in 1800 Franklin Co. Georgia.I have written 3 books about my ancestors - From the Mayflower to Mt. Blanca about my Calkins'; C. M. King - The Life and Times of a Colorado Pioneer about King ancestry (from Georgia to Colorado); and Kings and Calkins 1886 to 1996 110 years in the San Luis Valley. As a result of my writing and research, Good Morning America on ABC featured my families' reunion on Mt. Blanca in Colorado Thanksgiving morning of 1996. It was a great experience for us all and has encouraged many of my cousins to begin their own research. I continue to search and research many names which are all part of my history including: Calkins, Crawford, Runyan, Masterman, King, Pedigo, Ivie, Hardy, Forrester, Canfield, Bostwick, Fuller, Allen, Herrin, and many others. I would like to correspond with any others who are seeking relatives among these names and will gladly share what information I have found. |
