Notes for James H. Burgoyne:
Enlisted as Private, Co. G, 125th IL Infantry on Aug. 11, 1862. He mustered in Sept. 3, 1862 and fought at the battles of Perryville, Chichamauga, Rossville Gap and Missionary Ridge. The company fought at the battle of Kennesaw Mountain, Peachtree Creek and the siege of Atlanta until the signal victory at Jonesboro. The regiment marched with Sherman to the Sea and up through the Carolinas to Richmond. They participated in the Grand Review in Washington, D.C. and mustered out on June 9, 1865.
