The MITCHELL line ...
The surnames are MITCHELL, CATONE, PENZER and FORECZ.

European family ties to Italy & Austria-Hungary.

Geographical ties in the U.S. to New York State ... Plattsburgh (Clinton County), Troy (Rensselaer County) and Saratoga Springs (Saratoga County).

The MITCHELL & CATONE lines ...

James MITCHELL, emigrated Formicola,Italy c.1890 and came to America to live and to work. He came to America with his two brothers ... Paul and Joseph. All three brothers settled in Plattsburgh, New York upon their arrival. All three worked for the Delaware & Hudson Railroad. All three names appear in the 1892 Census records for the City of Plattsburgh.

James, married Mary CATONE c.1895. Mary, had also emigrated Italy; but it is not clear from any records whether they knew one another before they immigrated to America. Mary, had settled in Saratoga Springs, New York with her family. James and Mary, appear to have lived for several years in Plattsburgh. In 1901 my father, William Paul MITCHELL, was born in Plattsburgh. Records indicate that James and Mary, moved from Plattsburgh to Troy, New York. Their names appear in the 1922 Troy City Directory with the address shown as (2466 Sixth Avenue). After that, things become unclear. There is some evidence that they eventually settled in Saratoga County in the Village of Balston, where I suspect they are buried.

The PENZER & FORECZ lines ...

John PENZER emigrated Austria-Hungary c.1915 with his wife Esther (FORECZ) PENZER. It is thought they came through Ellis Island, but no records have yet been evidenced. John and Esther settled in Saratoga Springs, New York where John, worked as a tailor. He owned and ran a tailor shop somewhere in the City of Saratoga Springs. They had three children ... Elsie, Margaret and Steve. Elsie, was born in 1916; she always said in New York City at Bellevue Hospital. However, I have come to the conclusion that she was actually born either in Austria-Hungary or while in transit to America. There are no records of her birth to be found anywhere; but, there is a baptismal certificate which indicates N.Y.C. as birth place. John and Esther, are buried together in St. Peter's Cemetery in Saratoga Springs.

My parents, William Paul MITCHELL and Elsie PENZER, met and married in 1935 in Saratoga Springs, NY.

William Paul MITCHELL, died Septmeber 25th, 1970. Elsie, past away March 5th, 1995. They are buried together in St. Peter's Cemetery in Saratoga Springs.

The ZEHNER line ...
The surnames are ZEHNER, CANAM, HAMM and LAGRANGE.

The ZEHNER & CANAM lines ...

Charles N. ZEHNER, was born July 7th, 1923 in Troy, NY. He died August 29th, 1967 in Troy, NY. Charles N. ZEHNER, was the father of ...(Linda M. (ZEHNER) MITCHELL, as well as nine other children. Charles, married, Marilyn A. CANAN, on June 9th, 1946 in Troy, NY.
