I am researching my great-grandfather William C. Sharp of Livingston County, KY and his descendants. William first appears in the 1840 federal census of Dearborn County, IN. His birthplace has been recorded as New Jersey in the 1850 census and as Pennsylvania in more recent records. William lived in Rising Sun, IN from about 1840-1850. He married Delilah Neal in Boone County, KY in 1849. Together they had 7 children: Perry, Charles, George, Ida, Agnes, Mary, and William. William also had an earlier marriage to an unknown person. Together they had 3 children: Sarah, Clairice?, and Joseph. From Rising Sun, IN, William and Delilah moved to Mississippi for a few years and then on to Pope County, IL. Then in 1869, William bought 260 acres of farmland near Carrsville, KY in Livingston County. This property has been divided between the various heirs in the years since. Portions of it are still held by William's descendants. My current focus is on William's early years in Indiana and determining his birthplace and parents. |
