This first report will be the known history of my maternal lines (Bennett-Robinson). These people were primarily of English stock and ventured to America in the beginnings of colonization and settlement. Most of them were religious dissenters, adventurers and indentured servants to the New England colonies. They slowly migrated down the coast as the King's realm opened up, the majority taking crown grants, or otherwise settling, in the lower Cape Fear region of North Carolina, and the bounding area of South Carolina.
In the more than 250 years since first arriving in this coastal plain the core of this lineage stabilized in the area, making research easier, in some respects. As with any American genealogy however, it is still difficult to complete and authenticate to satisfaction. It is also, needless to say, an ever on-going venture, so participation by any and all, is certainly welcome.

A second report here will be the gathering of a history concerning my paternal lines (Mizell-Coffman). Again, these immigrants to the New World were primarily English, with the expected assortment of other British subjects originating in Scotland and Ireland. Secondary appearances in nationality are German and French.
These lines seem to have been mostly very early settlers to the middle colonies, namely Virginia. Before the end of the seventeenth century they were taking advantage of the opening of the Carolinas and were moving south. By the end of the Revolution most were migrating to the lower states. As Indian lands were seized and other new cessions made in the central south these families followed opportunities in that direction. By the end of the nineteenth century they were settled in the Trans-Mississippi and Texas.

I would be most obliged to any helpful cousin who can lend additions or corrections. Unlike many researchers I do give full appropriate reference to my sources and request that all who borrow from my work do the same. More than thirty years of my hard work I often find elsewhere with the dissappointing appearance of originality. It makes new study that much harder when one has to continually sift through their own material. Please be professional and polite.
A few of the primary lines in this study are: BENNETT, ROBINSON, HICKMAN, LEONARD, MARLOW, LAY, STANALAND, HOLDEN, DAVIS, MINTZ, SELLERS, WILLETTS, SIMMONS, GORE, FAULK, MIZELL, STANLEY, COFFMAN, HILL, AUTRY, GRIFFIN, FOWLER, JORDAN, SMITHWICK, EAVES, BELL, LINEBERRY, PERKINS.

Please be advised that my military reserve mobilization for the war soon after 9-1-1 has made it difficult to regularly respond to emails. I continue to serve with the Army and will do my part as long as health and family allow. I do collect as much information as I can and update from time to time so please check back often. Thank you, and God bless America!
