      2. Absalom Lafayette Mizzles, born 10 April 1887 in Oakmulgee, Perry Co., Ala.⁵; died 26 February 1959 in Jasper, Jasper Co., Tex.⁶. He was the son of 4. William Absalom Mizzles and 5. Leatha Amazon Stanley. He married 3. Clora Mae Coffman 08 February 1912 in New Hope, Pike Co., Ark.⁷.

      3. Clora Mae Coffman, born 16 April 1894 in New Hope, Pike Co., Ark.⁸; died 08 December 1991 in Tyler, Smith Co., Tex.⁸. She was the daughter of 6. Daniel Dempsey Coffman and 7. Nora Jane Bell.

Notes for Absalom Lafayette Mizzles:
After the marriage of Ab and Clora they took up a homestead in Colorado about 1915. They took Ab's brother Van with them, and his mother Letha spent part of the time there. They bore three children in the plains, and after proving out the claim moved to Texas in the early months of 1923. They elected to travel the whole distance with a group of wagons. It took six weeks to reach East Texas where other relations (Griffins and Stanleys) had earlier gone from Alabama, and most of the Mizzles family wound up before the decade was out.
Ab and Van bought land in the same community near Edom (the Flatlands-Pine Bluff area) in Van Zandt county. Ab's brothers Titus and William also settled near by, and most of the rest of the family was there ,at least for a short while.
Ab moved to Tyler in Smith County in 1928 to start a grocery business. He stayed with this for about three years and then moved to Antlers, Okla. where his sister and family (the Foxes) had moved to from Arkansas along with some of the Coffmans. By 1935 he was back in Van Zandt County , Texas before moving back for a short while to Pike County, Ark. Back to Texas again to take up another farm in Van Zandt County in the Martin's Mill community. Before the war he was trying the grocery business again in Athens, Texas. Before the war was over he had been in Hearne and Orange, Texas. By 1948 he bought a farm in Jasper, Texas where he died in 1959. Clora then moved back to Tyler, Texas where she remarried in 1962.
