The Little family originated from Hetton-le-hole and Seaham in Co. Durham England where they were coal miners. one of my ancestors helped to found the Durham miners union and was blacklisted at all the pits in the UK,due to not being able to work he left England for an unknown destination which we think may have been the USA. I am searching for my paternal grandfathers family, who until the First World War moved around County Durham following the coal sseams. My Grandad had 2 brothers called ROBERT who we know emigrated to the state of Illinois around 1920 with his wife who we think was known as Nellie, this is all we know about Robert although we think there was a baby girlborn around 1930-1945 who may have been called Bella, the other brother was called Jack, he served in the Royal Navy returned to Durham and was killed in a pit accident in Seaham Harbour, his body was never retreived along with the other men who died that day. |
