I am researching my family's history.Some of the surnames include the following:
MOAK--My branch of the Moak family has been in Southern Mississippi for generations.We are descendants of Andrew Moak who immigrated to North Carolina in the 1730s.
HARDCASTLE--According to oral family history, this branch of my family is from Ireland originally.However, they have been in Arkansas since the mid-1800s and came to Arkansas from Tennessee.
DICKEY & RUSHING--The Dickeys and Rushings came to Pope County, Arkansas, in the 1850s from Tennessee.I am interested in finding out more about these families and how they were inter-related.
CUDE & PATTON--This branch of my family is one I am especially interested in.John Cude and Anna Mae Patton Cude were the parents of my maternal great-grandmother, Jessie Cude Hardcastle.Grandma Hardcastle is something of a family legend, but we know very little about her family history.I have been told by my great-aunts that John Cude was full-blooded Cherokee, his wife was one-quarter Cherokee, and both were from Oklahoma.According to census reports, however, Anna Mae was born in Indiana, not Oklahoma.My great-grandmother didn't get a chance to know her mother, who died young, so we don't know anything about her family.Any information anyone has would be welcome.
