1. SAMUEL¹ HIGGERSON was born Abt. 1790, and died January 22, 1843 in Randolph Co, IL. He married MARY POLLY RICHARDSON May 29, 1810 in Sumner Co, TN.

Information on Samuel Higgerson and Mary Polly Richardson was obtained from book on Randolph County Illinois early settlers found at Chester, IL public library. Information was researched by Stephen Higgerson, Mrs. Harry E. Bauder and Freda M. Brock. Submitted by Freda Brock.

According to article Samuel and family was in Jackson Co. in the 1830 census but moved to Randolph Co within the next few years. They lived in T6S, R5W, Section 24, which borders Perry Co and is only a short distance north of the Perry/Jackson Co lines. Samuel's widow, Mary, and his daughter, Jane applied for bounty land for his service in the War of 1812. Mary apparently received 40 acres in T6S, R5S, Section 13, December 2, 1851. She died December 9, 1951. It seems that Jane received land in Perry Co.
