 Includes NotesNotes for Alexander Montgomery:
Alexander and his wife, Casandra Moody, continue to be a mystery. Other than the marriage record from Amite County, MS nothing is known about the couple prior to their moving to Louisiana. This researcher surmises that Alexander evidently acquired some wealth prior to his locating in Louisiana based on some documented transactions in which he loans money to other members in his community. He was also evidently well educated and has quite a bit of business savvy as he understood the legal system and documented his loans going as far as securing the debts with liens on property.

A number of Montgomery's settled in Amite County in the late 1700's and early 1800's but as yet, no documented links have been established.

Alexander was most likely born in either Georgia or North Carolina with his parents having arrived in America from Scotland or Ireland.
