The relationship of Peter Munroe and Duncan Munroe is unknown, but Peter is listed in the household of Duncan Munroe on the 1850 census. Colin is the third child of Duncan and Nancy Munroe. Sam'l K. is the grandson of Duncan and Nancy Munroe, the son of Colin Munroe and Margaret Keahey (Margaret died 03 August, 1848 - shortly after the birth of Samuel K.). Peter - relationship unknown. ________________________________________________________________ My great, great grandfather - JOHN ANTHONY MONROE, his wife - SARAH ANN LEVIE and their children move to Louisiana after the Civil War. They lived near the town of Sugartown, Calcasieu Parish (now Beauregard Parish), Louisiana. The family later moved to Rapides Parish, a small community called Calcasieu. The following information was found in the book "History of Louisiana", An article on George Mason Monroe, M.D. states the following about his parents - John A. Monroe, a native of North Carolina and Sarah A. Levie, a native of Maryland, the grandparents being native of Scotland. John A. lived in Alabama for 30 years, coming to Louisiana in 1865 and followed the trade of tailor, also was a farmer and planter and for a number of years a local minister of the Methodist Church. He served four years in the Civil War, being a second lieutenant.
