I am researching four family names: Monroe, Sparkman, Walseth, and Conley. Any information about these families or their branches is welcome.
For the Monroe family, I am interested in anything I can find about Sanders A. Monroe, my great grandfather.

Sanders Monroe was born in McMinn County Tennessee in 1844. His family moved to Kentucky after his mother died in childbirth around 1850.

Sanders Monroe entered the Confederate Army from Kentucky at the beginning of the Civil War - July 19, 1861. He served with T.T. Barnett's Company K, 3rd Mounted Kentucky Infantry. He was captured May 18, 1865 at Tuscaloosa Alabama and paroled later that month.

On October 4, 1865 Sanders married Sarah A. (Sally) Parker in Oktibbeha County Mississippi. She was the widow of Spencer Beard, who died during the Civil War. In 1869 Sanders and Sarah moved to Texas, settling near Lexington in what is now known as Lee County. They were part of a wagon train which originated in Oktibbeha county, Mississippi.

I am trying to find information about any relatives of Sanders Monroe who traveled on the wagon train and settled in Texas.

In reference to the Sparkman Family (My mother's surname), I am searching for information about William Sparkman, born October 14, 1768 in Bertie County South Carolina. He died in Alachua County Florida in 1845.

William had 15 children, 5 by an unknown first wife, and 10 by a woman named Sarah Surry Chancey. I am searching for the identity of William Sparkman's first wife.

On the Walseth side, I am searching for the ancestors of Eric Larsen Walseth (my wife's paternal grandfather). There is a possibility that Eric Walseth's last name was originally Wirum or Wierum. It is thought that it was changed by US Immigration personnel when he entered the country.

Eric Walseth was born June 28, 1873 in Alvundeiget, Norway. He died December 8, 1959 in Missoula Montana. Eric Walseth was married to Augusta Thomsen, born August 3, 1885 in Slesvig, Denmark.

Eric and Augusta married January 24, 1909. They had six children.

I would like to get in contact with any of Eric Walseth's decendants to try to coordinate and share information.

On the Conley side, I am searching for information about Michael Conley, born 1797 in Galway County in Ireland and his son Edward, born 1836 in Galway County In Ireland. Both Michael and Edward, together with their wives and friends made it to Northeastern Iowa sometime between 1845 and 1869.

Edward Conley had 8 children - Margaret, Nora, John F. (1863-1944), Coleman J.(1868-1936), Michael James (1869-1933), Anna T (b. 1878), Julia Agnes (b. 1880), and Sarah (1882-1882). At least some of these children, including Michael James, later moved to Jamestown ND.

I am searching for any descendents of Michael Conley, his son Edward, or his grandson Michael James. I am also searching for the town in Galway that Michael and Edward immigrated from.
